At some converted sites, the average check increased 15% and customer count improved by 9%. 
Denny’s Diner 1980
 
The largest sit-down restaurant chain in the U.S. was losing market share due to an aging customer base. A facelift that did not threaten brand recognition was needed. 
By positioning Denny’s as “America’s Favorite Breakfast Diner,”  we lever-aged the growing nostalgic trend with the baby-boomer family audience. 
Our evolutionary graphic identity reflected the simplicity of the original Denny’s logo and included a blue outer ring for properties built in a new diner prototype style. 1960
